The Fourth Edition of the HIMSS Europe CIO Summit

12 - 14 November 2013, Madrid, Spain.
HIMSS Europe CIO Summit 2013 presents a complete program with ten training sessions in which the improvement of the quality of healthcare through information technologies will be analyzed. The fourth edition of the HIMSS Europe CIO Summit will take place in Madrid. It will bring together the leading CIOs and the most reputable experts in new technologies applied to health in Europe.

The meeting will include a full program of sessions designed to promote the intensive knowledge exchange and networking opportunities at the highest level; as well as optional events such as a hospital tour, the eHealth Roadshow and HIMSS Europe Stage 6 & 7 dinner and awards ceremony.

"Aware of the complexity of healthcare centers and the multidisciplinary that involves the momentum of the change in healthcare organizations, no issue is outside the conference, from the most innovative, through mobility, data exchange, patients security systems' focus on clinical decision support or the medication security chain, without forgetting the organizational aspects related to the change management and the role of professionals," summarizes Manuel Vallina, HIMSS Europe senior advisor in Spain.

"The session about big data, healthcare outcomes and ROI will be especially interesting. Clinical data accumulation and automation process follow an improvement of care, so that the experiences of the various speakers will be revealing of different strategies that a hospital or a healthcare organization can implement to really learn from their data and apply that knowledge to daily care. The session titled 'Measure for improvement' will be the key in the coming years."

Sessions oriented to treat topics related to the patients' security will also be important in the programme of the Summit. However, two different sessions will be dedicated to key elements: the medication security chain and the clinical decision support systems. Both accompany healthcare professionals in their tasks, from the implementation of a process of secure medication administration - including prescription, validation and bedside administration - to the rules engines that use clinical knowledge to accompany, suggest and automate actions in daily practice.

The HIMSS Europe CIO Summit will be attended by leading healthcare professionals, from senior executives, doctors, pharmacists and nurses, to the industry's top players. Setting benchmarks, adopting a classification system, visiting a hospital and establishing an extensive network of contacts make this forum an opportunity not to be missed by those who wish to turn medical service providers into proficient IT users. This is the forum where leaders take the decisions of the future.
